Often, vintage items come to us without labels or with outdated sizing details. To help you best determine fit, we specifically measure the bust, waist, and hip for every One-of-a-Kind and vintage garment sold on ModCloth. Look under the ‘Measurements’ tab to find this info!

How to Measure a Garment

Choose a garment that you already own and that fits you well. Then, lay it flat and measure across the front. Compare your findings with your desired vintage item’s measurements.

Bust
Measure flat across the garment’s front, just under the arms.

Hips
Measure the widest part of a garment (below the waistline).

Waist
Measure the narrowest part of the garment. For pants and skirts: Measure the top of the garment.

Length
For dresses & tops: Measure from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the garment. For pants & skirts: Measure from the waist to the bottom of the garment.
